Tips for Self Growth

Strategies that can be incorporated into daily life in order to optimize self-growth.

As we get older we tend to become complacent with ourselves often forgetting that it’s never too late to learn new things and grow as individuals. It is important to strive for self-growth at any age, as developing new skills and investing more time into ourselves can help improve our mental health and overall happiness. This article will discuss a couple of strategies that can be incorporated into daily life in order to optimize self-growth.

The first strategy worth highlighting is journaling. Journaling is the process of writing down your thoughts or feelings to understand them better and be able to reflect on them at a later date. Journaling has been shown to have many benefits, such as raising your emotional intelligence, inspiring creativity, improving memory, etc.  Here are three important tips on how to begin effectively journaling. First, you have to create the habit. You need a place where you will be able to consistently sit down and immediately begin journaling. This place could be anywhere from your desk to a comfortable reclining chair in the corner of your room. Next, start small by writing just 15 minutes about whatever comes to mind about your day, any vital memory, or emotion that you wish you could revisit. Once you feel comfortable with that amount of time, feel free to add five or ten more minutes or even more as you develop this new skill. Finally, you need to just journal. It’s okay to make mistakes and it might even add to the experience to look back and laugh at how you used to journal before.

Another aspect of self growth is achieving your goals. Try setting up one or more aspirational goals, something challenging that will require determination and effort to achieve. These goals should be meaningful to you and bring satisfaction when completed.  Some potential aspirational goals might be learning another language, placing in the top twenty of a large marathon, raising a certain amount of money for a charity, or even developing a new skill for your job or yourself. Aspirational goals are great at keeping you stimulated and motivated towards becoming a better version of yourself. When you achieve one of these goals, the confidence and satisfaction of achievement can lead to setting even bigger and more difficult goals in the future.

Remember, self-growth is a lifelong journey, and there is no one right way to do it. The most important thing is to be constantly learning and growing and to never stop striving to be the best version of yourself.
